Visiting the Clorox: A Clayton County Business

Vice-Chairman Ralph was joined by Economic Development Director Grant Wainscott, Deputy Director Randall Toussaint, and Project Manager Lindsay Martin to meet with Plant Manager Kelvin Hill. The purpose of this visit is part of the ongoing effort to support existing industries in Clayton County, and demonstrate that the county's leadership values and looks for ways to partner with the business community.

This plant has been located in Clayton County, since the 1960's. In this plant's life, Clorox has consolidated three other Clorox manufacturing facilities into this Forest Park location. This plant consists of 325 M square feet and is the major manufacturing hub for Clorox. This plant produces over 21.7 M cases of Pine Sol, Clorox bleach, Tidy Bowl Cleaner, Liquid Plumber, 409, Tilex, Anti-allergen Fabric Spray and other Clorox products.

Vice Chairman presents proclamation honoring Ben DeCosta

On June 7th, Clayton County Vice-Chairman Ralph attended DeCosta: A Legacy of Leadership. This event paid tribute to Benjamin DeCosta's for over a decade of leadership at the Hartsfield-Jackson Airport. Under DeCosta's watch, the airport launched a $6 billion-plus capital improvement program, which included a new fifth runway, the Maynard H. Jackson, Jr. International Terminal, a new rental car center and upgrades to the central passenger terminal complex.

Ralph presented a proclamation on behalf of the Clayton County Board of Commissioners honoring Mr. DeCosta. The Vice-Chairman was joined by Chairman John Eaves of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners, Chairman Eldrin Bell of the Clayton County Board of Commissioners, Mayor Kasim Reed of the City of Atlanta, and Mayor Jack Longino of the city of College Park.

Leadership Atlanta 40th Anniversary Gala

On June 5th, Vice-Chairman Ralph attended Leadership Atlanta's 40th Anniversary Gala. It was a beautiful reception that took place at the newly renovated 200 Peachtree Street building (formerly known as Macy's downtown). Over 900 people attended and celebrated the legacy of leadership brought by four decades of leaders. Attendees included Mayor Kasim Reed, Atlanta City councilmembers Lamar Willis and Kwanza Hall, as well as Georgia Supreme Court Justice David Nahmias, YWCA CEO Justine Bod and Shyam Reddy, GSA Southeast Regional Director.

Leadership Atlanta is a 9 month, Executive-level series and each year 75 established leaders are chose to represent a broad cross-section of metro Atlanta. These leaders explore critical community issues, examine themselves as leaders and build relationships of trust and mutual understanding. Vice-Chairman Ralph is a '06 graduate of Leadership Atlanta and has remained active in alumni association ever since.

Duck Pond BBQ

On June 5th, Vice-Chairman Ralph attended the Duck Pond subdivision neighborhood watch BBQ. the Vice-Chairman was warmly greeted by nearly 100 residents, as well as, representatives from the Clayton County Police Department and the Sheriff's office.

Duck Pond is a vibrant community in District 3 that is well-organized and well-informed. This neighborhood watch has two block captains for every street, a website and walkie-talkies. Additionally they have created decals to identify resident's cars. Formed due to a rash of burgularies, since the inception of the neighborhood watch, Duck Pond has had no break-ins. Duck Pond proves everyday that an organized community takes advantage of the county's resources, and is a safe community.
